>if I use the wizards and built in classes to write my programs??? I mean I have used unbound controls and added data to my tables via SQL insert, but have never caught on to the whole OOP thing. I mean the FFC work fine for my needs, I even have modified them but am I really a prgrammer than??

Hi Anthony,

There is absolutely no shame in using the FFC. It is regarded by many as a high quality set of classes. Most have found the application and form wizards in VFP very limited. The control builders are more useful. IMO, using wizards and builders in general does not reflect poorly on a programmer. Several commercial frameworks include them to improve your productivity. In the end, if the wizards are meeting your needs, then where is the problem?

Well there could be a couple. If all you know how to do is use the wizards, then you will find it difficult to design anything but simple applications. Also, you may be missing out of some of the real power of VFP.

So, what is a good programmer? I think everyone will have a different definition, but how about this one: Someone with a natural analytical ability who has the desire to continue increasing his/her knowledge and improving his/her skills. It's just like anything else. If you don't care, you're no good. Whether or not you use a wizard has no bearing.
