Do your apps meet the business requirements of your customers in a cost-effective manner? If so, then that is the 'main' GOAL of a good programmer. You can feel good about yourself and your achievements for that alone.

However, IMHO, a 'better than just good' programmer has additional goals as well and there are reasons, as others have mentioned, in moving away from the wizards in VFP. Primarily that you may have to anyway once you come across requirements that cannot be met using strictly the wizards and base classes. Also, what about other programmers that may one day work on your apps or even assist you? Can they easily understand your code and make any required changes if necessary? Personally, while I can do it, I do NOT enjoy working on forms that were created using the VFP wizards. I'm always 'working around' the code in those cases.

Also, I am a firm believer that no matter how 'comfortable' you are doing a task one way, it is always a good idea to learn to do the same task another way. One, it keeps the little grey cells functioning, and two, it makes it easier down the road when new requirements popup. What if your current employer goes under, fires you, or whatever and when you go to find a new job you learn that you must NOT use the wizards? Will you be able to create an application without using the wizards? Something to keep in mind.

>if I use the wizards and built in classes to write my programs??? I mean I have used unbound controls and added data to my tables via SQL insert, but have never caught on to the whole OOP thing. I mean the FFC work fine for my needs, I even have modified them but am I really a prgrammer than??
