Sure. FWIW I've been doing web stuff since 1997 and never really had to worry about protocols and formating, I always had tools that took care of that and allowed me to focus on my app.
Also FWIW we format stuff in dotNET by using West Wind to create properly formed requests and copying it. I kid you not!
