I'd have to agree...intelligence/problem solving skills does count for something. There are some things in VFP (and Windows development in general) that I, personally, don't know too much about. The fact is, there are some (many) things that I just haven't had to do...the trick question is: "How long will it take me to find a solution when I have to do something for the first time?" I would rather hire a smart VB programmer to work on a VFP system than a stupid VFP programmer (if such a person exists!). The VB guy might fail the proficiency test, while the VFP guy might do very well. It doesn't mean he can code his way out of an endless loop though. Now, I haven't actually seen this test, but I have seen similar things for different development languages and they all share the same limitiations.
