The table must have not been used excl in the VFP application and was in the 2.6 application would led me to beleive that the error was caused from going between the two. I am still relatively new to FoxPro (6 months of using) so I'm still getting used to it. I guess the only way to get around this is to change the program using the table excl to not use it excl in order for them to be running at the same time?

When creating an application the use of exclusive is reserved for things like packing. You use exclusive for brief periods of time and have to be careful. Using exclusive will prevent other users from using the table.
