Hi John, the sructure that I use is the following
I have an Items table that includes:
- An Item ID, which is unique
- A class ID
- A color ID
- A size ID
- Current stock
the combination of class, color and size is unique.
And of course I have a classes table, a colors table, and a sizes table, that's where the ID's in the Items table come from.
This model has worked well for me in a system that's been running for about 4 years, I'm also using it for the second version of the system, that's going to run on SQL Server.
>Hi,
> I would like to get some ideas on POS system for fashion industry. Currently, I already have a POS system for retail shop such as hardware, chinese herbs. Now, I would liek to implement a version for fashion.
> As I know, the major difference for the fashion style is, it consist of size and colour. I used to see some other software that use matrix as a tool for colour and size selection. Do you think it is the good ideas? IS it just use grid to display the colour and size on row and column basis, and detect which column is selection by user to determine the colour and size?
> Also, I found that, I have to add colour and size fields into my item table. All of my reports have to be modified. Any way to minimize the modification?
> Next, do you design the item code that will contain information about colour and size? In your experience, do you think I should design my next version of POS that allow user to clear about thew stock not only by item , but also with colour and size? Would you like to sahre your experience?
