>>There are a number of Allenmandes and Bourees that he wrote. If I had to guess at which one's you're referring to, I'd say the one's from the 1st Lute Suite in Em. There's a very nice Bouree, however, in the 2nd Cello Suite. I've played them, and the "Romance for the Guitar".

>Yes, I know about the allemandes and bourees... :)
>I just can't remember which one I've played,, but that's those more traditional. :)
Probably the ones from the Lute Suite. Julian Bream plays the entire suite on one of his CDs ("Bach").

>>My all-time favorite (which is well beyond my meager abilities) is the "Chaconne" from Violin Partita No. 2. It's nearly 14 minutes long.

>Hey, I know that one... I have a CD with Andrés Segovia playing it. I have also two friends of mine who plays that one. It is REALLY great!!!
I have a recording of that by Segovia. "Segovia Collection No. 1" - MCA Classics. The amazing thing to me that on that recording, at the time it was made he was over 60.

>>How come none of you South American folks have mentioned Heitor Villa-Lobos? He wrote a wonderful series of 5 guitar Preludes.
>
>:) as I told in another message, I have Villa-lobos CD's here, played by Sin-ichi Fukuda. Very great! :)
Both Julian Bream and John Williams have CDs with his work that are very, very nice.
