It depends. Is the bottleneck your network? Will the queries be optimized for SQL Server? Will you use ODBC or ADO or XML? Are you going to use a two-tier or n-tier approach?

You may be able to give me an answer to the above questions, but without running specific tests at your site on your network, its difficult to say. Chances are, it won't be slower, but is it worth the $10,000-$15,0000 (US$) to put in SQL Server just on the chance it will be as fast or marginally faster than native VFP?
