Victor;

It seems we are running out of letters, sharps and flats of the music scale to use for naming programming languages. We have an imposed limit of 12. Therefore, I propose we begin using Greek or Church Modes of which there are 7, (8 if you really do your homework!), and combine these with the music scale to name additional programming languages as they become available. Think of the possibilities!

One problem between the Greek and Church names is that the Church made a mistake (impossible!) and renamed the modes! Therefor Greek and Church modes use the same name to indicate a different relationship.

Church Modes and a few examples of the basic concept

Ionian: Happy – Major mode – C, C++
Dorian:
Phrygian:
Lydian:
Mixolydian:
Aeolian: Sad – minor mode - COBOL
Locrian:

The Greek modes were defined as a mathematical relationship between intervals of musical notes of a given scale. Each one evokes a different human emotion, from happy to sad and everything in between. What a concept for defining programming language names! :)
