As witnessed by a question earlier today, this command is poorly documented.

Specifically, it fails to mention that it affects all subsequent revisions to any tables until either a END TRANSACTION or ROLLBACK is issued. In fact reading it would lead one to conclude that it *does* only affect one table at a time.

The example is also deficient in that it doesn't show an END TRANSACTION. In addition it looks like the identical example is used for the ROLLBACK command. The "Remarks" section mentions that record locks are placed until the transaction is ended, but the example would do well to SHOW the best way to minimize the impact of these locks. Until I learned of this here and in publications like FPD I placed my BEGIN TRANSACTION in its LOGICAL place in my code, which was typically far far in advance of its optimum placement.

Generally, BEGIN TRANSACTION, END TRANSACTION and ROLLBACK all need more thorough and clearer documentation.
