since you need to have some sort of control over the formatting, you may store <> restore SelStart / SelLenght of the editbox in the code that manipulates the format.
But there is one question to me (just to be curious): What means
".. can format the marked text .." in an editbox? AFAIK the format of an editbox can only be changed as once. Do you use something like RTF control?
