You may be right - I don't have any NT/Win2k machine that is NOT NTFS - maybe some extended attributes?

UPDATE: Check in 4/02 MSDN under "A Programmer's Perspective on NTFS 2000 Part 1: Stream and Hard Link" and look for some discussion of .txt files and streamed files.
