About every penquin I know spoofs their browser type. I set mine to IE 5.0.
Why? Because some sites have exclusionary code that attempts to block you if you aren't running IE. Run as Konqueror, or Netscape or Mozilla or Opera and you can't bring up the site. Use those same browsers but spoof IE and the sites come up fine. Try UT's message area with Opera set to say 'Opera'.
