Is the 2nd form (the form called from the command button on the first form) modal? Do I understand correctly that the problem is that you cannot return to or release the parent (the form with the command button that calls the 2nd form) form after you release the child form (2nd form)? I'm not sure if I understand your problem correctly. Perhaps if you posted the code that instantiates the parent form and the code from the command button that calls the 2nd form...
