Hi Randy,
I've spoken to some of the Visual Basic .NET team, this is not a known issue, so we will need to drill a little bit deeper in order to help you solve this.

Here are some questions I hope you can answer:
1. We need to work out if this is a machine-issue or a project-specific-issue. Does this only happen with this particular project? If you try the project on another computer does the issue repro?

2. By default, the Enter key doesn't do anything to a checkbox. Are you trapping the keypress somewhere?

3. Is there anything else interfering? Can you try disabling your virus checker, and see if the problem repros? Is there anything else running on the machine that might be interacting with the application

4. Are you running it by pressing F5 in the IDE, or as a standalone application? Does the problem repro in both cases?

Whew! thats it for now. I hope we can get to the bottem of this problem, and help you solve it.

If you would like, email me at yag@microsoft.com with your phone #, I'll get some others together and give you a holler so we can try to resolve this. In any case, we'll put the resolution online here to benefit others.

>The machines that the app is running on are pretty decent machines. I think they are at least 1 GHZ processors and they have 256 MG a RAM. One thing that has happened repeatedly, is that, if the user hits the enter key while in a check box, the app stops responding for at least 10 seconds AND there is no code in the checkbox at all. I don't know what the problem is, but I seem to be having significant performance issues with VB.NET.
