I have tried your steps and they don't seem to work for me. i.e. you mention about closing the help window. In my case I quit from the application so I only have the command window open. Beyond that I don't know what you mean about closing the Help Window.

Now I am using VFP 6.0 and possibly VFP 6.0 does not release the .chm file until you quit and go back to the Desktop.

I was wondering if there was a command for getting VFP 6.0 to release the .CHM file. I have tried SET HELP TO, CLEAR ALL, CLOSE ALL and VFP 6.0 hangs onto the .CHM file regardless.

It sounds like this problem does not exist in VFP 7.0.

I am planning to upgrade in the next few months, so possibly I will have the solution then.
