To add to Tracy's reply, you need to make sure that the printer is shared. Go into your properties for that printer, on the "Sharing" tab you will see it is "Not shared" by default. Change it to "Shared as:" and give it a share name, preferably 8 characters or less, no spaces. This creates a local print queue to which you can redirect a DOS LPT port as per Tracy's message.

For example, if your computer's name is W2KPRO and you give the printer a share name MYLASER, then
NET USE LPT1 \\W2KPRO\MYLASER /persistent:y
will let you print from your LPT1 port to the printer.
