Hi,

SQL2000 - We are having significant performance issues with some users in Enterprise Mgr. Specifically, it takes 30-40 seconds to several minutes to bring up the list of databases and tables, etc.

This seems to be tied to security. These users have no server role access and are given datareader, datawriter, and public database roles. They are not issued any specific database object permissions. If I temporarily make them a system administrator - the speed goes to near-instant - switch back, and it's back to slow. My theory is that EM is trying to go through and see what the user has permissions on one-at-a-time. But what I do't understand is why, if they have data-reader rights, it can't instantly let them see all the tables?

BTW - What I'm tryin to accompish in the end, is for these users to have reights to basically "see" everything in the databases (stored procs, table structures, etc) but not be able to change those items (only can change data in tables)

Thanks for any help,
Ken B. Matson
