Nadya steered you in the right direction for quick fix. The ultimate solution is to turn off the vfp bar and use the activex statusbar, then you dominate all bar control. When you have some time, I think it's worth looking at. We built a class some years ago for it, and now we just add the class to every app, along with an application object or top-level form method that you call to set messages on or off, or progress bars into action. Much nicer than the VFP statusbar, once you get it built and working, you can customize it nicely using the various panels.
