You don't need VFPCOM in VFP 7. The functions you need are right in the product. I don't know whether I've ever tested Word's events. I have bound to Outlook events from VFP 7.

VFP 7's Object Browser lets you create the class to implement the events. You just drag the interface you want to a editor window and all the code is generated. I just tested dragging the ApplicationEvents2 interface and got exactly the code I expected.
