Hi Mark,
We also do bulk conversions every month. We currently have converted ('resized') over 2 million images into 2 different sizes each in their own directory tree based upon the fil name . We receive the images in a zip file with hundreds of small direcories with random file names. We obviously needed a way to automate spanning directories, renaming files and rationalizing file placement. We discovered :
JDO - JPEG Disk Optimizer 3.37
A Windows 95/98 and NT command prompt driven program for optimizing and watermarking multiple JPEGs and TIFs on a disk or file server.
It is a registered program which we automate thru the command line from VFP. I highly recommend it. It is reliable, works on all the above platforms, and is not hideously expensive.
You can "read all about it" at :

PS They also sell an OCX (I have not tested) which may work well with your class.
>Sorry, no. I am using Win2k at home and still on Win98SE at work. I can't get too far ahead of my office inefficiences. If this image control is not available in XP, I am going to be in a bind. I really need a way to automate bulk image reduction. Doing them 1 at a time in Paint Shop Pro sucks. I did find free software to do bulk conversions at
http://www.arcatapet.net/imgv32.html but you can not automate it. As long as I have something that can do bulk conversions, I can live without full automation [just barely, though :)].
