Hi Fred,

>>I actually do know someone who has used Visual ProMatrix. He likened it >>to "programming with gloves on". I've used it myself and I concur with >>that assessment. < g >

I know someone else who says that all other frameworks were programmed by aliens and will only work with VFP 3.0 <g>.

The point I am trying to make is that there are probably very few people who really know all frameworks inside out. I am a VPM developer and I am more than happy with the product and have no intention of looking elsewhere. That doesn't mean that the other frameworks are no good but what it does mean is that I am not qualified to make statements criticising frameworks I know nothing about.

Some of the negative VPM criticism posted here is downright laughable. At the end of the day users will always divide into tribes and "my framework is better than yours" will continue long past the point where anyone is listening and will always obscure the facts.

Within any industry and field there are different skill levels and it makes judging similar products very difficult. One person's inexperience could very easily be passed off as a failure in design of a product. In return a product design flaw could easily be interpreted as a fault with the programmer. At the end of the day the only person who can judge what is right for yourself - is yourself.

I have programmed commercial games, business applications and operating systems since the early 80s using all forms of programming languages including raw machine code, C(++) and numerous database packages. I have used Fox products since the late 80s and I have been using VPM for the last couple of years. My only complaint is that I didn't find it sooner.

Other members here can call me a hobbyist because I use VPM if they wish and it is their right to do so (and maybe they are right) but I go to my bed tonight a contented programmer knowing that some of the people criticising VPM users as hobbyists are probably running software I have helped develop.

As someone smarter once told me "we are all along time dead".

Sometimes we need to realise there are more important things in life (and I include myself in that category as well).

Regards,

Aaron
