John;
AMEN!
Developing your own framework or an "in house framework" is a waste of resources. Use a commercial framework and bulletin board to solve problems for your customers. Spend your time making customers happy and not trying to create, modify and resolve framework issues.
Let the Framework Company work for you and you work for your client. At the end of the day you want to deliver the application your client needs. Now a “real developer” would rather spend all his/her time developing a framework. Think of all the neat things you can do with code!
I would rather have a reputation for developing what my client needs and deliver my work on time or ahead of schedule. If you want to create a framework work for a framework company! :)
