Like I said, I might be off.
from the oledb file of mysql or myoledb
If you use ADO, set connection string to Provider=MySQLProv; Data Source=xxx, where xxx is

name of MySQL database - like test
or a connection string like one used in MyODBC - like server=localhost;DB=test

The server is UNIX! Tell me what you meant by "install a server part onto the mysql server". It may be an answer!
