In general, each table is opened with an "alias" - alternate name. If the table has an acceptable name, VFP opens it with the same "alias" as the table name. Otherwise, e.g., table name starts with a digit) VFP assigns a different alias - but you can always use a different alias - and this is especially useful in cases like the one you mentioned. Also, in cases of tables with strange names (starts with a digit, or contains hyphens - in general, any valid variable name is also valid as a table name).
