Hi Jerry,
>I am curious... what other platforms did you have in mind?
We always had a version of VPM for Visual Basic in mind. We've had quite a few people tell us that there was a need for a product like ProMatrix in the VB world. However, we missed the boat on VPM for VB.
Now that .NET is with us, we have plans for a version of VPM that would help in the creation of both Web and Windows applications using VS.NET. In the next few days, there will be information about our .NET plans on the ProMatrix Web.
IMO, .NET represents a tremendous opportunity for developers. I can't recall another Microsoft initiative that so radically changes its application development technology. I also can't recall another development technology that Microsoft has promoted so heavily.
The opportunities for new software products and services related to .NET are outstanding. We intend to help our users take advantage of those opportunities.
We do plan to stay within the Microsoft world. In other words, we don't plan to create versions of VPM for non-Microsoft development platforms.
We certainly will continue to improve Visual ProMatrix for VFP, and we will release new versions of VPM as new versions of VFP are released. In fact, we plan to release a major upgrade of VPM Enterprise later this year which will allow VPME applications to access data over the Internet.
Best,
Joe
