Life? ( mean was it 'life' that happened since then?) :o) Hard to believe that was so long ago! I don't 'feel' any older, but I know that I am! :o) Look at technology alone...sheesh! Such changes!

>>Thank you (I'll take that as a GREAT compliment!). Actually, the 360 was in use til around 1980 (much later with some companies that just continued on with it as long as possible) or so as far as I know, but we used it a few years before that. In the 70's we used the IBM 360/50 which they eventually replaced with the 360/145. They thought they were 'leading edge' at that time and I still remember my boss telling me (in 1976) that within 10 years there would no longer be any personal checks-we would only carry a bankcard in the future which would draw money out of our account and transfer it to the merchant's account for us. I laughed at that then! I believe we used Hollerith Punch Cards (I remember there was a pink card in the front of the deck). It's been so long ago now, that my memory fails me I'm afraid and it was one of my high school jobs (which I despised at the time). I'm surprised that I ever went into programming after that job!

>Yup, they were those cards alright.
>mmm.... In 1983 I was installing Baby 36's, and I was only 42. Something happend since then....

I know everyone was thinking "Thank goodness that wasn't me!" :o) Whenever it happened we were so FURIOUS (you know why!) but also very saddened and empathetic towards the person that dropped the tray! No one wanted to be in his/her shoes (it was usually a man because there were very few women in this field back then! tee, hee!)
