Sorry, I guess I didn't make all the details clear - no datasessions, no remote views, I am using DataClas/VFP to interface to SQL Server. Your second paragraph is right on the money, that is indeed how the data is laid out - see my reply to Nadya.
I guess all i was looking for was how to present the search choices to the user - two different search buttons with different icons, a choice dialog that pops up after the user clicks the one search button, etc. As in, which method (or another one I haven't considered) makes the most sens from a consitent UI standpoint, and for ease of use. The typical user of this application will not be a computer expert.
