Of course the "prototype" I wrote lacks many things, like those you kindly pointed out, and it must be carefully addressed.

The "Select 1" syntax is accepted by all SQL engines? Initially I thought using the "Select Top 1" syntax, but Informix doesn't accept it. Using the "Select 1" syntax with an Informix table returned me a result cursor with only one column named "Exp" with all values of "1".
