With all due respect, when you have people in Bangkok making observations about conferences in California/Florida, and offering to organise conferences a bit closer to home, to tell them there are also conferences in more US States is a bit like saying "let them eat cake".
IMHO a South East Asian conference is a great idea and might make somebody a whole lot of money. For example, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (no fools) run very well attended training sessions in SEA rather than demanding people come to Australia/New Zealand- which is a lot closer and cheaper than the US, by the way. They also allow you to sit your exams in larger SEA cities. It works very well.
Cities like Bangkok or Singapore have all the facilities to see an absolutely brilliant conference- You might be surprised at the attendance, some of you US guys might want to attend and see as well.
Opportunity for somebody?

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
