Hi Douglas,

Before using the samba configuation tool which write a new smb.conf file, I would make a backup copy of the default smb.conf file that come with the distribution, because it has a lot of useful into embedded in it. The smb.conf file live in /etc/samba directory. To make a copy of it log on as the super user, su, and type the following at the # prompt:

cp /etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf.bak
