In THAT case, I would DEFINITELY get the names of the two MS consultants and provide them to Ken Levy so he can clarify and/or discuss this with them. It's always possible a corrected statement can be provided to your company by MSFT. It is my understanding that not all MSFT reps or consultants are educated on the capabilities and future of VFP and that needs to be rectified. Remember, they may specialize in an entirely different tool and just be uninformed about VFP. In order for Ken to do that successfully, he needs information from the business world (and us) when misinformation that degrades the opinion of VFP is provided from MSFT reps or consultants in the field.

Also, I'm sorry that it appears that your attempt in garnering amunition via this forum to fight on behalf of VFP's use in the business world has resulted in 'what appears to be' personal attacks against yourself and your intentions.

>>Maybe you don't radiate enough confidence in the product yourself to convince others around you.
>>
>>>And it's not me perpetuating the subject, I'm trying to stop it by gathering advice (yes, that's advice) from people who have managed to convince other of it's healthy existence.
>>
>>So what exactly are you going to do with all this advice - rhyme it off chapter and verse to your peers at the office? I can't see that cutting much ice. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Why not let your VFP applications do the talking?
>>
>>>Yes, but other people (not in the know) will continue to think that FoxPro's future is less certain than, say, Oracle or Sql-Server.
>>
>>Apples & Oranges - they just are not the same type of product. Obviously, you have deep fears about this issue. Working for Cornwall County Council, what is the issue anyway? If they switch from VFP, will you be out of a job? Or will they just re-train their developers in whatever is the new tool. If your worried about your future, learn another language in your spare time.
>>
>>I think on this forum, your preaching to the converted, so to speak.

>Managers in our department hate to be proved wrong, if they think something they say is correct, it's pretty difficult to budge them - they will have to prove themselves right because they are the "managers", if I were to disagree with a decision, rather than listen to me, they would go off and prove me wrong.
>
>None of these managers have developer backgrounds, so they know nothing about software and languages etc and they certainly won't listen to the likes of me, why would they? After all they are the ones who have to make the decisions and stick by them.
>
>That is what I'm up against, we had 2 consultants from MS come down the other week and pretty much told one of the higher up people that FoxPro's future was not "planned" like other applications by MS......
