If you participate in the event you will have the right to use any code you want, including third party framework. Third party will not be very happy to see the framework code open to anybody.

Even you, as a programmer, may have some code library that you are really proud of but dont want to share with others.

At the end of the competition, I am sure that the teams members will be happy to answer the questions regarding the way they have coded the desktop or web applications.

BTW, are you in the way to start the US team?
