I was thinking of creating a view based on the whole table, the view would have some calculated fields in it, then I would create small views based off the first view to directly populate a grid.

I am not sure that the second view would update the original table. I may be better off just creating lots of small views for each grid required.

I have another question, we have just ordered VFP7 (we are currently using VFP6) and was wondering what advantaged a view has over a updateable SQL statement?
