To be truthful, I ran into this when working on a personal project, which involved getting the window handle of a combo box in an ActiveX control. I ended up writing an article for the VFUG newsletter entitled, "Taming the MS Calendar Control". If you're interested, the article is available on-line at www.vfug.org.

It worked Great!
The only issue I am trying to resolve on this solution is getting the icon to remain when another form is dragged over the form hosting the icon. Anything dragged over that icon acts like an eraser. Redrawing the icon in the paint event will redraw the icon if the form is activated again, but requires a click on the form to fire. Do you know of a way to detect if the icon has been erased or another form (any application) has been dragged over this form? I would have expected the paint event to handle this since something does redraw the form when it is no longer hidden. I tried using a timer firing every second, but that caused a memory leak.
