THis is really a non-point, since that layer is taken care of by wizards. Exactly the same way .NET handles it, its all underneath.

This is one of the reasons why I qualified the point. Closer reading will bring your clarity Mike.

Maybe in 4 or 5 years. Take a look at the .NET developers today. Ones who know what they're doing are few and far between. Every one's a rookie. Read some of the articles. The huge majority are all plagarized from sub-standard GotDotNet articles.

I don't agree that every body is a "rookie" per se. I believe expert level developers, the truly good ones, will be able to leverage the technology quickly. Certainly faster than the 4-5 year time frame you give. I would say within 2 years, .NET will be quite pervasive in the marketplace.

Rofl! So, .NET can't run on older hardware, but we shoudl just ignore the tehcnical implications. Examples go on and on, thats just the easiest one. This is some of the worst advice in this thread.

It may very well be that for the business to solve the challenges it has identified in order to achieve its goals, new hardware may be in order.

As for advice, I was not giving any. Rather, I was providing an opinion. Again, closer reading will provide clarity Mike.
