I looked over the posts. I thought I had qualified it by saying "This may not be a big deal..." As it turns out, I did not say that in spite of thinking I did. IAC, I have said it now..

John, I need you to change the textbox on my Windows form so that it ignores any dashes when inputted, adds its own dashes at positions 3 and 9, and inputs all the characters as capital letters. How much will it cost you and when will it be done?

I used the masked edit ActiveX control via COM Interop. Took about 15 seconds to come up with this solution. It was a matter of customizing the toolbox. Neat feature...check it out...

I'm sorry, what was your point?????? Or, did the obvious immediate solution escape you???? < bg >... I am sure there will be a .NET specific solution for this. Probably, with a little work, I could have created a custom textbox class in a windows control library... But since the time constraint was an hour, I took the quick path.

Right, that is why I used the same solution that VB 6 would use.....

Right now, I am enjoying a nice Corona with a lime laughing my A** off.

We'd also have faith that this is a well tested solution, being as we've done it with VFP7 and VB6 for years.

I think the masked edit control has been well tested. And, as far as I am concerned, the perceived performance problems with COM/Interop are just that...perceived!!

I'm curious to how you woudl solve this problem in .NET and if it would take more than an hour.
<

I guess you are not curious anymore, are you....< bg >..
