Ouch that really hurts <g>...

Seriously, that's ridiculously conservative. It happens to be that you're paying for training by a specific person. Would you really pay $1700 for training by some no-name person other than Kevin? I don't think so - just think of all the trivia you'd miss out on!

Training at that level is expensive precisely because you get a specific person that will do the training not just because you're getting training.

>No, it's not the same. I'm not saying that Kevin is not great at what he does or even the best at it. I'm just saying that it is difficult to convince management to invest in a training course if there is no contigency plans for the course itself. How can you ask management to invest 1700.00 per student if there is no guarantee that the course will even occur if for some reason the instructor is unavaible? Most training centers have some type of backup plan and alternate instructors teach when one instructor is unavailable. I'm sure the course is worth every dime spent, but what if the company invests the money to attend, arrives for training, and then there is no course at the last minute? It's not unrealistic to ask these questions in advance and is also rather typical of business investments including training.

>>It's like the old IBM adage about documenting code. The argument goes that you should always document your code because, one day, you might be hit by a bus. The counterargument is that the last thing going through your mind right before getting hit is not likely to be "omigosh, I didn't document that function!"
