I have tried bot "602" and StarOffice, and decided in favor of StarOffice. The main limitation of 602 is the limited language availability (no Spanish). That is no problem for me, but it is for many other users. To avoid buying additional MS-Office licenses, we (Bata-Bolivia) finally installed StarOffice on several machines. However, because of the automation issue, those users who use the system that is under my control (which supports several most reports in Excel format, some complete with formulae, numeric and character format, etc.) have to have MS-Office installed.
I didn't do further testing, and don't know whether 602 is capable of automation.
