Does anyone know if Microsoft have jumped into a market they don't normally support and "not" managed to come out on top?

MS have a lot of fingers in a lot of pies, but their recent entry into the world of VideoGames doesn't seem to be holding up too well.

There's a lot of speculation surrounding the lack of success of MS's new venture. What I want to know is, will MS continue to throw money into this new venture for a few years before giving in (if that "is" the outcome) or are they the sort of company who will not give up until they have dominated this area of the market?
