There's a place in the mountains near where I grew up here in Utah that consistantly has some of the coldest winter temperatures in the lower 48. Readings of 60 below zero are not uncommon, without wind chill. This spot gets lots of snow too...it's a favorite place for many snowmobilers.

>LOL! What a vision - your words took me back to one of my trips on an Air Force Inspection and I imagined a little kid looking up at snow piles! Yikes! :)

>It seems like the Air Force would send us out when the weather was bad and it was bad that week at Su Saint Marie - with the wind blowing off the lake - that was COLD! What I "enjoyed" about my Inspection trips was someone would always say, "If you think this is bad you should visit........"! The Air Force knew where to put Radar Sites!

>One Radar Site in North Dakota had red bands around power poles. I said, "What are those for"? The answer was, "That is the 20 foot mark so we get a relative idea of how deep the snow drifts are"! I thought they were kidding me until they took out pictures to prove their point!
