Hi Tom, I agree with all of your points except a minor one below:

>When someone pushes my buttons I react! Expecially when it is the "wrong end of the horse"!

I can understand that feeling :o)

I saved this link. Very enlightening. I thought I remembered learning in school that it was written by a socialist, but I could not find a source to verify it until now. Interesting that it was also written by a christian and originally without the words 'under God.'

>There is so much illogical public furor over the decision of the Court in this matter. It only effects Western states but you would think it was an invasion by a foreign entity. I would rather see the people of this nation be concerned about the quality of education our children receive within the public school system. Taking offence at the word “God” in our public school system is “the thing to do” but how about the schools providing the students and society what they are entitled – a good education?

While I agree that in general, the people of this nation are not concerned enough with the issues you've raised (and many others of great importance); I also don't feel that people should not voice their concerns over this issue either. I truly believe it is precisely because we voice our opinions and fight (sometimes in war, sometimes with letters to our congressman, and sometimes by marching in the street) to further our cause at home that changes (mostly good, but some I do not agree with but the majority rules in this case as long as they are constituationally within bounds) occur and our country continues to be the one with the greatest freedom today. It is because we as as a nation have been raised to 'not settle' that changes continue to occur and our country is what it is today.
