>Does anyone know if Microsoft have jumped into a market they don't normally support and "not" managed to come out on top?

Not sure if I agree. Xbox is the best console in terms of rasw speed and graphics quality. Halo is the best console game I have ever played, both in terms of absorbing and technical quality.

Xbox is doing very well, but not as well as Microsoft had projected.

>There's a lot of speculation surrounding the lack of success of MS's new venture. What I want to know is, will MS continue to throw money into this new venture for a few years before giving in (if that "is" the outcome) or are they the sort of company who will not give up until they have dominated this area of the market?

Microsoft has made mistakes in the past. The biggest one I can think of is not thinking that the internet would be a big deal. Microsoft is incredibly nimble and in the case of the internet, was able to change directions very rapidly.

The Xbox is a PC, it runs a special version of Windows 2000. It is poised to become the entertainment hub of the household.
