Try to edit and save big Word documents (change font style, color and so on) that reside on the shared project folder. If Word crashes too - the problem is Windows XP.
I do not know why (we did not have time to experiment with it) but we had simmilar problems with WinXP in our firm running heterogenius (Win98, Win2kPro, WinXPPro) workstations in Win2000Srv domain.

Also I suggest that you use Source Safe for working (over the network) with shared project code. It is much more stable than direct opening across the network and you have possibility to use its text file backups to recover your work in case of a failure.

>Hi - I have recently made the move to from Win 2000 Prof to Win XP professional on my office PC and home PC also and have noticed two problems...
>
>1. Firstly and most importantly - at work we run over a 10/100 connection to a Win 2000 Server where we have a shared project folder - I have this as a mapped folder on my PC - when I open a project that is on the server then open a form class to make changes and then attempt to save those changes, Visual Foxpro hangs and I have to end task to get out of it. This occurs if I join the domain or just attach as a workgroup. It did NOT happen when I was running Win 2000. I get no error messages. I am running VFP6 with SP5.
>I will have to revert to Win 200 if I can't resolve this but I am reluctant as it's a 6-7 hour job!

>2. At home I am running Win XP Prof as well. I like to listen to CDs with Windows Media Player whilst I am working on VFP. I have noticed a problem that I can repeat on my PC at work at will - I play the CD with Win Media Player - open my VFP project - open a large (several hundred lines - normally a freshly created gendbc bit of code) .prg file - select some of the code - then grab the scrollbar on the right of the .prg window and move it up - at that moment my computer dies completely. It shuts down without the shut down bit! It was shocking at first then I realised what was causing it! Although the solution to this problem is simple (use winamp!) I wondered whether any one could re-create this problem and if there is a solution I would apprecaite knowing about it...

>Thanks - and apologies for the long post!

Try to update your media player with the most recent version.
