>I have a FoxPro/DOS 2.5 app running on a Windows NT 4.0 SP6 network. I am getting reports of occassional "File is in use by another." and/or "Cannot write to a read-only file." error messages attempting to write to DBFs on the file server. At the start of the program, Exclusive is set OFF, and the DBFs in question are opened shared. The error messages do not occur at startup, only during later processes. Any ideas to reduce the frequency of these (admittedly infrequent) errors?

If you have a virus program on the server, disable it.
