>Nintendo has loyalty, but a bad reoutation amongst older gamers for being to 'kiddie'

That reputation has actually been brought on by the kids, the average Nintendo player is 23/24! However, Nintendo now currently own the majority of the horror industry, they have exclusive Resident Evil titles, and their own product Eternal Darkeness - which apparently messes with your head more than frighten you.

>Sony has a percieved loyalty, but it hasnt been tested yet, Most Sony players will happily go where the best games take them.

Yes, because Sony have a "great" selection of games, but they don't tend to have the games that "really" stick out, you will find most PS2 owners will have another console for the good exclusives. I got fed up waiting for N64 games to be released, so I brought a PS too for the selection, but the N64, by far, had the most AAA titles.

>Ahh but the DC was the second failure. The Saturn failed miserably first, and they followed up with the DC, when it failed, Sega had had enough.

Yeah, and remember the SegaCD.....

>No they didnt, I may have been vague in the first message, but I was reading quotes from Sony officials on what they planned for the PS3 *before* the PS2 was released.
>Part of the marketing hyp for PS2 was what they wanted to do next with PS3.

Actually, your right, they did. Although, Sony were in a better position at the time and weren't struggling to sell systems, thus not looking as desperate as MS when making the announcement.

>True, but broadband wasnt as strong then, and they didnt move the network outside of Japan from memory, where as MS is hitting up the US market first which is more likly to go for the style of games that play well online, Like Unreal tournament and Halo.

Sega did move the network into America/Europe. I shouldn't compare DC with X-Box too much, as Sega made a lot of promises they couldn't keep, as with MS - money makes the world go round.

>My PC is well capable of playing games :)

There you go then :)

>Its my internet connection that will hurt the most in time to come, unless Australia can organise some nicely priced broadband options then nothing is going to take off over here.

Same here in UK, they are struggling to get people on Broadband, and I certainly won't be switching until the price becomes reasonable, and not the same price as having SkyTV :)
