I agree with you...on REFOX being a "sad" buy and bad experience. I have purchased every version of it through the years. With the REFOX8 version I branded our code, and the banks that use my software began crashing with a Windows error somewhat into the program... and never at the same place.

I tried using both individual FXP files, and the EXE file... no matter, because it appears that the EXE is the FXP files all bundled together anyway.

We corresponded with REFOX people several times, but they are not much help.

We abandoned the REFOX idea for what we think is a better idea. Champion used it in their accounting system years ago.

We use very "weird" named variables and field names which make no sense to a decompiler. Because even if they decompile, they have to try to figure out what we are doing in the code. And it is almost impossible with the names we use... It would take years for someone to try to track what we are doing. I know, because we gave some code to some fairly smart encryptors in the business and they gave up trying to tell us what we were doing in the code.

We keep a "translation" table in the secure safe that identifies all fields and variables and makes it easy to fix or repair bugs. It is a lot of work to originally write it and follow the scheme... but authors tend to remember things they write while they are writing them. Many times they can decode a bug without the Translation Tables on hand.

We also send our code to the Copyright Office regularly when new modules are added. Anyone fool with us... they will go to jail, cause we have more money to prosecute them than they have to defend themselves.

So try our scheme... forget about REFOX... and HAVE FUN AND WRITE GOOD CODE!

AND COPYRIGHT IT!!!
