John;
Single user machine - no network.
1. Have a clean stable power source. No SCR's on your power line.
2. Switching Power Supplies - those that are used with computers can and do develop problems after several years of service and cause data corruption.
3. Do not turn off the power or reboot without shutting down the application properly. Sometimes easier said then done! :)
Tom
P.S. We often use power line monitors which have a small thermal printer built in to monitor our line voltage and how "clean it is". If you see spikes on the print out - you know you have a problem.
