By running with the View window (as suggested) I found another unrelated (but related) view to requery:
When there is another view unassociated with this screen but observing the same fields being operated on - it also must be requeried :~'

>>>. =tableupdate(.T.,.T.)

SELECT vwMAILl
=requery()
>>>. Select MailME
>>>. =requery() && this does not show me the proper list
