The service pack should be identified in the very top line. Mine says, for example, "Microsoft Visual FoxPro 6.0 SP5". That's build #8961, so I expect you're shy a SP. You might consider updating. That last version improved the stability of the product. You can download updates here:

Okay. I only wanted the spreadsheet to try it here and see if I could identify the problem. I've had GPFs importing spreadsheets for a few different reasons. Including, for example, a worksheet that was named something longer than the Excel format, which is possible if you create the spreadsheet by exporting from Fox. So, in short, I was just curious about what the problem might be.

Yes, automation is a good approach, you can do a lot more. If you can rely on the users having Excel that will work well. Good luck.
